Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an international public health agency with more than 100 years of experience in working on the improvement of health and living standards of the peoples of the Americas. It is globally recognized as part of the United Nations system and serves as the specialized organization for health of the Inter-American System, as well as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Colombian Government, along with the Representation of the PAHO/ WHO, must continue carrying out important tasks in the years to come, such as access facilitation to health services of displaced populations. It should also continue to assist the development of national levels and territorial entities regarding the planning and attention to disasters; it has developed activities for the prevention and control of diseases, particularly in the eradication of poliomyelitis and the reduction of immuno-preventable diseases.
