International Sugar Organization (ISO)

The International Sugar Organization based in London is the sole intergovernmental agency devoted to improving the conditions of the world's sugar market through debate, analysis, special studies, transparent statistics, seminars, conferences and workshops

Its 81 member states represent 82% of global production, 64% of consumption, 89% of sugar exports and 34% of sugar imports.

ISO manages all issues regarding the International Sugar Agreement (ISA), of which Colombia is a member.

ISO’s objectives are:

  • Achieve greater international cooperation in connection with sugar matters and related issues.
  • Serve as a forum for intergovernmental consultations on sugar and on the ways to improve the world economy of this product.
  • Facilitate trade by collecting and providing information on the world market for sugar and other sweeteners.
  • Encourage increased demand for sugar, particularly for non-traditional uses.
