Acquiring another nationality does not give rise to the loss of Colombian nationality (Article 96 of the Political Constitution and Article 22 of Law 43 of 1993).
According to the provisions of the Constitution and the law, the possibility of nationals by naturalization carrying out public duties or occupying public positions may be limited.
Colombian citizens with another nationality are subject to the Political Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Colombia in national territory. Consequently, their entry into, presence in and departure from Colombia must always be as Colombian nationals and they must also identify themselves as such in all their civil and political acts.
