Brusels, September 04-2010 (OP).  The spokesperson of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the Commission Catherine Ashton issued the following statement today:

"The High Representative condemns in the strongest terms the brutal terrorist attack that has taken place on September 1 in the department of Caquetá, southern Colombia, burning and killing of 14 police officers and injuring at least 7 other.

It is because of brutal actions like this that the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia)
are listed by the EU as a terrorist organization.

She reiterates her solidarity to the families of the victims and the people of Colombia and her
support to the government of Colombia in their fight against terrorism".
