Bogotá, July 27, 2010 (OP). Regarding the situation with Venezuela and the summons to Unasur’s Foreign Ministers Meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informs:

1.    The Government of Colombia is ready to continue the debate over the concerns manifested before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States, in different scenarios.

2.    Nonetheless, the Government considers that, more than continuing with the discussion, it is necessary to move forwards towards solutions.

3.    The major contribution to the current situation regarding the relationship with Venezuela is the definition of a concrete mechanism to solve the core issues.

4.    Colombia will attend the Foreign Ministers Meeting summoned for this Thursday, in the understanding that said mechanism will be discussed in detail.

5.    The interest of Colombia is to achieve efficient cooperation.
