In parallel, Colombia continued to make progress in sea routes, with the issue of Law 10/1978, issuing rules for territorial water, the exclusive economic zone and the continental platform, thus incorporating material from the new Law of the Sea into domestic legislation. Subsequently, Law 1436/1984 was issued, to set Straight Baselines, based on which the maritime areas contained in the Law of the Sea were measured.
