Presentation of true copies of letters of credence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Upon receipt of the respective request, the Office of Protocol together with the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs will set the date on which the new diplomatic representative shall deliver the true copies of the letters of credence accrediting him/her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Colombia, and said date shall be communicated to the respective mission.
Upon arrival at the San Carlos Palace, the diplomatic representative will be received by officials of the Office of Protocol. Shortly before the audience with the Chancellor, the Director of Protocol will welcome the representative on behalf of the Minister and explain the ceremonial regarding presentation of true copies to the Minister, as well as letters of credence to the President of the Republic. The Director will then accompany the representative to the Protocol Room, where he/she will be greeted by the Minister.
Where applicable, a similar procedure will be followed in the case of a Chargé d'Affaires with letters of introduction.
Presentation of letters of credence to the President of the Republic
The Office of Protocol will coordinate any pertinent aspects with the Presidency of the Republic and shall promptly inform the mission about the date and time at which the President, in a special ceremonial, will receive the new Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia for presentation of the corresponding letters of credence.
On the day of the ceremonial, an official of the Office of Protocol with diplomatic rank, accompanied by an aide-de-camp of the Presidency of the Republic will travel to the Embassy headquarters, the Ambassador's residence or any other previously agreed upon location, in order to accompany him/her to the Casa de Nariño in a specially designated vehicle for this purpose.
