The First Latin America and Caribbean Summit (CALC) on Integration and Development was held in Salvador, Bahía, Brazil, on December 16 and 17, 2008. It was created with the purpose of advancing in the articulation of integration processes and of fostering and strengthening the development of ALC countries.

It is comprised of 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Secretariat is currently held by Venezuela and will then be assumed by Chile upon the formal incorporation of CELAC.
