The San Carlos Diplomatic Academy is the Section of the Foreign Relations Ministry in charge of overall training of Foreign Service officers. The Diplomatic Academy shall, from time to time, prepare and update the diplomatic formation course, the training courses, and the professional competency exams for rank promotion in the Diplomatic and Consular Career, as well as workshops, seminars, activities and all other curricula of the Academy, in accordance with the provisions of the Foreign Service Organic Statute and of the Diplomatic and Consular Career; It is also responsible for the promotion and development of research on foreign policy matters related to the objectives and activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the promotion and execution of academic cooperation and exchange programs with similar institutions or with universities from the country or from abroad.
